Maclellan, John, 8th Lord Kirkcudbright (1729 -1801)

John Maclellan, 7th Lord Kirkcudbright, was the son of William Maclellan, 6th Lord Kirkcudbright, whose title was confirmed by the House of Lords 3 May 1773, and Margaret Murray. He succeeded his father in 1776. He married a Miss Bannister from a Hampshire family. He died 24 December 1801, and was succeeded by his elder son, Sholto Henry Maclellan. The title of Lord Kirkcudbright has been dormant since 1832.
