Robartes, Charles Bodvile, 2nd Earl of Radnor (1660 -1723)

Charles Bodvile Robartes was the son of Hon Robert Robartes, styled Viscount Bodmin, and Sarah Bodvile, daughter and heiress of Colonel John Bodvile, of Bodvile Castle, Cornwall. He married ca. 1689 Elizabeth Cutler, only daughter and coheiress. of Sir John Cutler, 1st Baronet, of Westminster. In 1685 he succeeded to his grandfather’s titles, becoming 2nd Earl Radnor. His many appointments include Member of Parliament for Bossiney 1679-1680, and for Cornwall 1685; Constable of Carnarvon Castle 1692; Lord Lieutenant of Cornwall 1696-1702 and 1714-1723; Lord Warden of the Stannaries and High Steward of the Duchy of Cornwall 1701-1702; Privy Councillor 1701/2 and 1714; Treasurer of the Chamber 1714-1720.
