Ross N/A

The crest and motto are those of the Ross Baronets of Balnagowan in Ross and Cromarty. The 4th Baronet, Major General Sir James Ross Lockhart, and the 6th Baronet, Admiral Sir John Lockhart, assumed the surname of Ross upon successively succeeding to the fortune of their maternal uncle, William, 14th and last Lord Ross, and as the estate of Lockhart had been sold in 1762, Sir John adopted the designation of Ross of Balnagowan. It could be the stamp of any of the later Baronets. The Baronetcy is now in abeyance. The last baronet was Sir Charles Henry Augustus Frederick Ross, 9th Baronet, whose only son died in infancy.
