Stucley, George Stucley, Sir, 1st Baronet, of Affeton Castle (1812 -1900)
George Stucley Buck was the only son of Lewis William Buck, of Affeton, and Anne Robbins. He was educated at Eton and Christ Church Oxford. He married, firstly, 22 December 1835, Elizabeth O’Bryon, daughter and coheir of the 2nd Marquess of Thomond. She died in 1870, and he married secondly, 31 January 1872, Louisa, daughter of Bernard Granville of Wellsbourne Hall in Warwickshire. He was Member of Parliament for Barnstaple 1855-1859 and 1865-1868, Justice of the Peace, and Deputy Lieutenant for Devon and High Sheriff in 1863. He took the name Stucley by royal licence in 1858, and was created a baronet 26 April 1859. Books from his library were sold in London in 1931. The library of Sir Hugh Stucley, 4th Baronet., was sold at Sotheby’s 16 May 1939.
