Tresham, Lewis, Sir, 1st Baronet, of Rushton (1575 -1639)

Sir Lewes Tresham was the second son of Sir Thomas Tresham, and Muriel, daughter of Sir Robert Throckmorton, and the younger brother of Francis Tresham, the betrayer of the Gunpowder Plot. He was educated at the Inner Temple. He married, 4 March 1603, Marie Perez, daughter of Don Ricardo Perez, a Spaniard, step daughter of John Moore, Alderman of London. In spite of Francis Tresham's attainder and execution with the other conspirators, Lewes succeeded to the family property of Rushton, perhaps because of an entail. He was a Baronet of the original creation 29 June 1611, and knighted on 9 April 1612. He died in 1639 and was succeeded by his only son William, on whose death, perhaps in 1642, the baronetcy became extinct.
